Manicure,The Fashion Needs

The manicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment for the fingernails and hands performed either at home or in a nail salon by a licensed professional nail technician or manicurist. A manicure treatment is not only a treatment for the natural nails but also for the hands. A manicure consists of filing, shaping of the free edge, cuticle treatments, and massage of the hand and the application of polish. There are also manicure services that are specialties for the hands and feet. For the hands, the soaking of a softening substance and the application of a lotion is a common speciality. This procedure can be applied to the toenails and feet; this treatment is referred to as a Pedicure. The word "manicure" derives from Latin: manus for "hand," cura for "care."
Other nail treatments may include the application of artificial nail tips, acrylics or artificial nail gels. Some manicures can include the painting of pictures or designs on the nails or applying small decals or imitation jewels. In many areas, manicurists are licensed and follow regulation. Since skin is manipulated and is sometimes trimmed, there is a certain risk of spreading infection when tools are used across many people and, therefore, sanitation is a serious issue.
History
Ex-servicewomen learning manicure techniques, 1945Manicures began 5000 years ago
In India, henna was used for manicure. The term mehendi, used synonymously for henna, derives from the Sanskrit mehandika. The Dowager Empress of China was known to keep very long naturally-grown nails.French manicures are manicures designed to resemble natural nails, and are characterized by natural pink base nails with white tips. The tips of the nails are painted white while the rest of the nails are polished in a pink or a suitable nude shade. French manicures may have originated in eighteenth-century Paris and were popular in the 1920s and 1930s] Like any style they are chosen for a variety of aesthetic reasons. Many choose them because they are very simple and give nails a natural, healthy look and can visually correct or perfect otherwise imperfect nails
Nail careNatural nails are made up of protein keratin. The nail plate requires a certain amount of flexibility and moisture to encourage healthy growth. Using 'hardening' treatments and harsh chemicals on natural nails will make the nail plate brittle and more prone to breakages. The use of nail moisturizers and clear polish proteins is essential for perfect growth. A professional Nail Technician or Manicurist will use a written, verbal and observational consultation to determine the condition of a client's natural nails. A manicure treatment should take from about thirty minutes to one hour.
Paraffin treatments Hands can be dipped in melted paraffin wax for softening and moisturizing. Paraffin wax is used because it can be heated to temperatures of over 35°C, without burning or injuring the hand. The intense heat allows for deeper absorption of emollients and essential oils. The wax is usually infused with various botanical ingredients such as Aloe Vera, chamomile, tea tree oil, and azulene. Fruit waxes such as peach, apple and strawberry are often used in salons.
Occasionally, lotion is rubbed on the hand before submersion into the paraffin bath. The hand is usually dipped more than once to allow a thicker wax coat to forms, making the coating stay warm for longer and less likely to break or tear prematurely. After the hands have been dipped in the wax, they are wrapped in either plastic or aluminum foil, or a special type of plastic bag or glove then covered with towel or special mitten to retain warmth. The hands are left for a few minutes before the paraffin is cooled and dried.
Hot oil manicure
A hot oil manicure is a specific type of manicure that cleans the cuticles and softens them with oil. It works well for dry skin and nails that are brittle as it improves both by leaving them soft and pliable. Types of oils that can be used are mineral oil, olive oil or commercial prepared oil.

FASHION HISTORY OF SARI

Sari

In every modern society fashion is directly associated with modern trends. But mostly these trends have a close concern with the cultural heritage of the society. In modern FASHION an Asian dress of women has its too much deep roots in ancient civilizations of sub-continent. That dress is famous as Sari or saree or Shari. It is a female garment in the Subcontinent. It is equally popular in India, Pakistan, Sire-Lanka, Bhutan and other countries of the region. A sari is a strip of unstitched cloth, ranging from four to nine meters in length that is draped over the body in various style s.The most common style is for the sari to be wrapped around the waist, with one end then draped over the shoulder baring the midriff.

The sari is usually wrapped over a petticoat, and an upper garment known as a blouse or choli or ravika forming the upper garment. The choli has short sleeves and a low neck and is usually cropped, and as such is particularly well-suited for wear in the sultry South Asian summers. Challis may be "backless" or of a halter neck style. These are usually more dressy with a lot of embellishments such as mirrors or embroidery and may be worn on special occasions. Women in the armed forces, when wearing a sari uniform, don a half-sleeve shirt tucked in at the waist. The saree was born in both South and North India and is now a symbol for all of India.

The history of Indian clothing trace the sari back to the Indus Valley Civilization , which flourished during 2800-1800 BCE around the western part of the Subcontinent. The earliest known depiction of the saree in the Subcontinent is the statue of an Indus valley priest wearing a drape.

Ancient Tamil poetry describes women in exquisite drapery or sari. In ancient Indian tradition and the Natya Shastra and other remains of whole regional societies presented in Sculptures of the Gandhara, Mathura and Gupta schools show goddesses and dancers wearing what appears to be a sari and a dhoti wrap, in the "fishtail" version which covers the legs loosely and then flows into a long, decorative drape in front of the legs. We also observe everyday costume consisted of a dhoti or lungi combined with a breast band and a veil or wrap that could be used to cover the upper body and head. These two-piece are survived ancient clothing styles of subcontinent, the modern sari is a development and innovation by combining the two pieces of the costume. The other wrapped sari-like garments, shawls, veils and other similar clothes are in use of Indian women since ancient times, and that they have been worn in their current form for hundreds of years. The choli or upper blouse is a latter addition in relation with stitching industry. In Kerala and Tamil Nadu, we have documented that women from many communities wore only the sari and exposed the upper part of the body till the 20th century. Ancient poetic sculpture references indicate that during that period in ancient Tamil Nadu, a single piece of sari served as both lower garment and head covering, leaving the midriff completely uncovered. In Kerala and Tamil even today, women in some rural areas do not wear cholis and upper.

The most common style in sari is to be wrapped around the waist, with the loose end of the drape to be worn over the shoulder, baring the stomach; the sari can be draped in several different styles,

  • Gujarati– this style differs from the other only in the manner that the loose end is draped over the right shoulder rather than the left, and is also draped back-to-front rather than the other way around.
  • Maharashtrian/Kashta; this drape is very similar to that of the male Maharashtrian dhoti. The center of the sari (held lengthwise) is placed at the center back, the ends are brought forward and tied securely, and then the two ends are wrapped around the legs. When worn as a sari, an extra-long cloth is used and the ends are then passed up over the shoulders and the upper body..
  • Dravidian– sari drapes worn in Tamil Nadu; many feature of pleated rosette, at the waist.
  • Karmataka .In this style, the pleats are created in the rear, instead of the front. The loose end of the sari is draped back-to-front over the right shoulder, and is pinned to the rest of the sari.
  • Gond. – Sari styles found in many parts of Central India. The cloth is first draped over the left shoulder, then arranged to cover the body.
  • The two-piece sari, is usually worn made of unbleached cotton and decorated with gold or colored stripes and/or borders.
  • Tribal styles – often secured by tying them firmly across the chest, covering the breasts.

The nivi style is today's most popular sari style.

In Bangladesh

Silk Sari Weaving is famous fashion throughout Bangladesh. There are many regional variations of Saris in both silk and cotton. But the

Tanta/Taant Cotton, Dhakai Benarosi, Rajshahi silk, Tangail Tanter Sari, tashar silk and Katan Sari as the most popular in Bangladesh.

In Pakistan

In Pakistan, the wearing of saris is less common than the more traditional shalwar kameez which is worn throughout the country. The sari does however remain a popular dress for formal functions such as weddings. The sari is sometimes worn as daily-wear, mostly in Karachi, by those elderly women who were used to wearing it in pre-partition and by some of the new generation who have re-introduced the interest in saris. The reason why the sari lost popularity in Pakistan, was due to it being viewed as a Hindu dress. Although she was seen wearing them,Fatima Jinnah, the "Mother of the Nation", called the sari "unpatriotic"

In Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan women wear saris in many styles. However, two ways of draping the sari are popular and tend to dominate; the Indian style (classic nivi drape) and the Kandyan style (or 'osaria' in Sinhalese). The Kandyan style is generally more popular in the hill country region of Kandy from which the style gets its name. Though local preferences play a role, most women decide on style depending on personal preference or what is perceived to be most flattering for their figure.

The traditional Kandyan (Osaria) style consists of a full blouse which covers the midriff completely, and is partially tucked in at the front as is seen in this 19th century portrait. However, modern intermingling of styles has led to most wearers baring the midriff. The final tail of the sari is neatly pleated rather than free-flowing. This is rather similar to the pleated rosette used in the 'Dravidian' style noted earlier in the article.

Kandyan style is considered as the national dress of Sinhalese women. It is the Uniform of air hostesses of Sri Lankan Airlines.

In Nepal

In Nepal, a special style of draping is used in a sari called Haku patasi. The sari is draped around the waist and a shawl is worn covering upper half of sari which is used in place of "pallu".

FASHION - IN - SKIRTS

Skirt
Skirt is the most popular fashion in the western world. Ever since skirt rose to the level of popular dress in society it grew in many types, like the micro-mini short, long, down and some others. Initially it was long Skirt and down skirt, but with the rising feminism it entered in the era of mini-skirt, when women began to feel confident enough in their feminine strength to bring the mini back into fashion.

All these trends of skirt length are associated with the stock markets which say that short skirt trends mean bullish, rising markets stemming from high consumer confidence. Long skirt trends, on the other hand, mean that the markets are bearish, on their way down due to low consumer confidence. It is true that there may not be much truth in the theory; of course there is a personal choice among women about the lengths which is right for them. A few suggestions on this topic may not be amiss at this point:

If you are comfortable with your bear leg short skirt can be your choice, and if you are less comfortable you chose the longer the skirt.

Trends are all very well, but it is important to choose your skirt length according to your legs and body shape.

If you have thin legs in proportion to the rest of your body calf length skirts will give you the appearance of more muscular legs. Choose a skirt that ends at the thickest part of your legs. The length of skirt is just right for you who are appropriate to your figure and body.

If you have heavy legs, ankle length is the way to go with your Fashion Availabel. If you are choosing shorter lengths, make sure the skirt does not end at the thickest part of your leg. So you must select the right size and shape of your skirt according to up to date fashion and right Fashion Availabel.

FASHION OF FACE

FACE, THE MIRROR
Fashion is closely associated with face appearance of a person. There are many threats for a beautiful face in the fashion world.
Blackheads are the offensive threat for a beautiful face. Blackheads look like tiny, dark dots. "The clog itself is made of follicle-lining cells that stick inside the pore. As they're exposed to air, the cells oxidize and turn black," says Pennsylvania-based dermatologist. So to remove them we should select right face creams, and medicated products after close consideration with a nice dermatologist.

If our selection would wrong, we would not be able to get right and satisfactory results. So the selection of right products for face can bring some positive and enchanting effects on our face. This will add to our fashion of face and new trends in FASHION WORLD.

FASHION IN LEATHER

Leather is used by man as dress since prehistoric cave age. In fact it was the second dress of man-kind. According to BIBLIC or QURANIC ideology the first dress was big laves of plants. Later man learnt the use skin of animals, and made leather from skins and hides. From the course of time we reached up to the present status of development in the field of leather material and products. With the passage of time ma invented and introduced many "fashions" in leather dress.

Leather is a durable and flexible material created via the tanning of animal rawhide and skin, primarily cattle hide. It can be produced through different manufacturing processes, ranging from cottage industry to heavy industry.

Forms of leather: - Many processes are used to transform hides and skins into leather by different tanning methods.

Leather types:-In general, leather is sold in four forms:

1-Full-grain leather

2-Top-grain leather

3-Corrected-grain leather

4-Split leather

. We get leather as a by-product of meat industry wear as Fur is the main product in its type.

Leather production processes

After process we get the leather for our use in FASHION INDUSTRY as jackets, coats, trousers, pants, skirts, tops, and etc. Leather-fashion is popularly used to describe a fashion attraction to people wearing leather, or in certain cases, to the garments themselves.

The Leather Skirt

The leather skirt is one of the warmest and most sexy items of clothing when it is worn with style. Wear it with incredible high heels and an understated one colored silk blouse and you will be turning heads wherever you go. Leather is chic and it is soon becoming a winter essential.

Who can wear a leather skirt?

Unlike other items of clothing, leather does not forgive. Leather skirts look great on tall slender curvy shapes. The material clings to the body and accentuates the lower curves.

I find that the best style for a leather skirt is the one just above the knee. Too short a skirt and it will make you look sludgy; too long and you will drown in it. Just a few centimeters above or under the knee are the ideal lengths for leather pencil skirts.

Usually leather skirts are for casual wear teamed up with a sweater of soft material it looks great. The best colors are of course black, burgundy, brown, copper and milk. Although worn correctly -like in the photo under-, a red leather skirt can look very classy and elegant.

Leather pants

Leather trousers for this season are super-skinny. . Leather trousers should be form-fitting except at the ankle. They are worn to show off your figure. Bear in mind that there is the style and the trend for women. The best style in trousers is cigarette style of leather trousers and these are best on tall women, worn with high heels and a top made of soft material.

The new trend between a legging and a trouser is trigging. It is more casual and can be worn like leggings with long sweaters that hide the hips and bottom. See Rhiannon’s photo on the right wearing leather trigging during Paris fashion week.

Fashions In Ancient Societies

In ancient societies of the world fashions had its strong existence. The whole world had ancient civilizations, but some civilizations had their penetrating impacts on man’s every day life. In Europe GREEK and ROMAN traditions are identical and parallel. In EGYPT we see similar rich culture and fashion. Moreover ancient INDIAN civilization and society was likely rich. INDIAN civilization was so rich and strong that it has its not only traces, but continuity in present fashion too.

Fashion has never been constant at any stage and this is revealed by the kind of fashion ideas followed since ancient times. So to understand continuity and follow-up we would discuss these rich civilizations one by one.

Ancient Greek Fashion

Greeks are the father of knowledge and wisdom .They is unique in their social interaction and response towards the society. Ancient Greeks had certain types of clothing that were characteristic of that era. Here’s a look at some various styles of clothing that belonged to ancient Greek fashion.

Ancient Greeks were known for many things, from the beautiful art to the very rich literature. Ancient Greek fashion was unique and equally interesting and had certain characteristic features about it. WOMEN in ancient Greece were quite modest as far as their clothing was concerned. Here is a detailed look at ancient Greek fashion.

Ancient Greek Dress Fashion

Greek-fashion of dress was the fashion of non-stitched clothing. We observe the kind of clothing worn in ancient Greece was loose and flowing and hardly were the garments ever sewn together. Their used fabrics were mainly linen or wool. They had certain typical garments that belonged to the ancient Greek fashion only. Women of the era also wore a veil with their clothing whenever they stepped out of the house. In fact, the ancient Greek fashion was quite modern in its outlook. As far as men were concerned to the extent that male nudity was really not a big deal in ancient Greece. Reason being, though weaving industry was impressive but stitching industry was not existing.

Fabric of Chiton:The fabric of chitin was worn in the ancient Greeks by women as well as by men. This form was of clothing was most popular in ancient Greek fashion. The chitin could be worn with an added halation (a kind of cloak) or it could be worn without this accessory. When worn without the halation, it was known as the Mono-Chiton. The chitin appeared on the scenario after the Persian invasion. A belt was also worn with the chitin, which was called the zoster. The chitin was also seen in two varieties- the Ionic chitin and the Doric chitin. The Doric chitin consisted of two pieces of cloth, which were rectangular in shape, and was worn long. The Ionic chitin differed from the Doric chitin in terms of the overbold. The overbold was worn longer on the Doric chitin.

Importance of Himation:

This was a formal dressing of Greeks of the era. When the Himation was being worn in ancient Greece; it represented a form of outdoor wear. The Himation is also an important garment of ancient Greek fashion. This was generally made from a rectangular piece of wool. With the use of lighter fabrics, the Himation was worn at any time of the day. The Himation was loose and flowing, therefore, it can be termed as a modern cloak. It was also used as a form of drapery to be worn over the Chiton. The Himation can be compared to the Roman toga, the only difference being that the Himation has less volume in the fabric. When worn solo, the Himation was known as the Chiton!

Chlamys, The Royal Shivelry Cloth:

The Chlamys was also flowing in its appearance and was mainly worn by the soldiers in ancient Greece. The chlamys was used as a cloak and was pinned at the right shoulder. The chlamys was also worn with other forms of clothing but generally, soldiers only used it as a form of a cover. This was worn pinned at the right arm.

Peplos for Women:

Women often wore the Peplos and these go back to the period before 500 BC. This can be described as a piece of woolen material and was styled as per the height of the wearer. The Peplos consisted of a tubular shaped cloth. This was folded from the inside out. The top area of the tube usually gathered at the waist and the bottom area extended till the ankles. The cloth on the upper area was brought underneath the left arm. This was secured with the help of tapes or pins on the right shoulder. The top layer of the cloth, which draped the waist often, gave the appearance of two pieces of cloth. There were many types of the styles that were used for the Peplos. Some of the common patterns included checks, flowers, waves or even stripes. When women wore the Peplos, the arms were generally left bare. When the fabric hung at the front area, folds were generally formed and these were also fastened on the shoulders.

Ancient Greek Fashion: Jewelry and Makeup

Jewelry did form a significant part of ancient Greek fashion. This was discovered with the findings of jewelry at the Greek sites which proves that women in ancient Greece loved to wear all sorts of jewelry with their flowing garments. Bracelets, earrings and beautiful necklaces were worn with Greek attire. Even men were not left behind as far as ancient Greek fashion was concerned. It is known that men wore jewelry till the 4th century.

Ancient Greek women also used make up. Pale or light skin was considered a status symbol for women. Women used honey and olive oil to improve their skin. They often used substances as a substitute for cosmetics for enhancing their looks. Dark powder was dusted over the eyebrows and red powder was used over their lips. Women also loved to wear their hair long during this period.

These are some of the interesting bits and bites of ancient Greek fashion. Thus we see the ever-changing scenario of fashion since the ancient days.
